To go along with my posts Radium Sources and Uranium Glass, here are my miscellaneous samples that don’t fit easily into either category (despite some having the same active elements). These are Fiestaware, uranium ore samples, thorium sources, and a few other things I have laying around. All these and more can also be found on my Instagram page. Enjoy!
Above: Fiestaware cup, Fiestaware salt and pepper shakers. Uranium Oxide was used to color them, making them nice and spicy on sensitive geiger counters (and still perfectly safe to keep and even use).
Above: A “Quantum pendant”; sellers claim all kinds of bogus benefits to wearing one. They claim that it helps “regulate” your energy and boost your health, as well a block “EMF radiation” (but that’s a post for another day). I actually sent one to a friend in Sweden to get tested, and it contained: K-40, Tl-208, Bi-214, Pb-214, Ac-228, Ra-226, and I’m pretty certain U-238 and Th-232 (based on decay daughters present).
Above: The smaller of my two current pieces of Uranium ore.
Above: Lu-176 test sample sent to me by Mark R. for gamma spec. Does not read higher than background with the Radalert while in it’s bag.
Above: The CDV-700 Geiger Counter came with a Depleted Uranium check source on the side, which is what the alpha window of the Radalert is up against. Right: My larger piece of uranium ore, and to the right of that, an old lantern mantle; these often contained thorium.
Between these three posts, that’s just about all the sources I have at this time. Soon I plan to make a post for all the counters I have, as well as more gamma spec posts. Stay tuned, and thanks for looking!

PS: As an added bonus, I’ll leave you with this- the Radalert 50 taking a one minute measurement of a M1A2 Abrams tank with Depleted Uranium armor!
